"Empowerment is not something handed down—it is discovered, nurtured, and lived."
— Dr. Kakoli Dey
The recent session of Vidya Lead Academy, in association with Nada India Foundation, marked a powerful milestone in our mission to shape healthier campuses and conscious young citizens.
Students from Manav Rachna International School, Faridabad, joined hands with youth from Shimla and Jamshedpur, bringing with them not just energy and curiosity but an urgent desire to act, reflect, and lead.
Under the insightful mentorship of Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan (Life Coach and CEO, Vidya Lead Academy) and Ms. Hiral Krishnatray, the session created a nurturing environment where young voices felt heard and respected. What emerged was not a lecture—but a shared space for self-discovery, social insight, and purpose-driven learning.
A Special Guest with a Transformative Message
We were honored to host Prof. (Dr.) Kakoli Dey, Head of the Department of Humanities at Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology. A global educator and counselor under the Ministry of External Affairs for the G-20 e-VidyaBharati program, Dr. Dey brought wisdom rooted in experience and a spirit open to dialogue.
Her talk, "Championing Youth Voice & Values – Bridging Humanities with Healthier Campuses", emphasized the power of language, the need for self-reflection, and the importance of ethical community participation.
In her words:
“Being a life coach is not easy. It takes patience to create the right atmosphere for young minds to thrive. But what I saw today—from CATs in Faridabad to young thinkers in Shimla and Jamshedpur—was extraordinary. They are not just students, they are motivators.”
Empowerment Is Not a Buzzword—It’s a Practice
Through interactive Q&As and experiential reflections, the session unpacked what empowerment truly means:
-
“Janata hoon, mein kya kar sakta hoon?” is not empowerment—it’s resignation.
-
Simply having trees, pets, or neighbors doesn’t empower us—engaging with them meaningfully does.
-
Caring for younger or older people in your community is a radical act of empowerment.
-
Observing cultural behaviors, financial practices, and emotional patterns is part of real-life learning.
The CATs (Community Action Team members) embodied these values beautifully—showing awareness, sensitivity, and spontaneous critical thinking throughout the session.
The Language of Empowerment
Mr. Vatsyayan observed how Prof. Dey skillfully demonstrated the difference between academic decoding and the everyday language of common people.
“The language you use can either silence or amplify youth voices. Prof. Dey helped bridge that gap, teaching us that youth voice isn’t just about speaking—but being heard, in a language that resonates.”
From Faridabad to Jamshedpur – Youth in Action
The CATs shared reflections on:
-
Women’s empowerment in rural Himachal
-
Addressing NCDs (non-communicable diseases) in urban clusters
-
Creating safe community spaces for youth dialogues
What stood out was how regional realities shaped different responses, but all were united by the same spirit of service and vision of change.
“I forgot I was the guest… I felt like one of them,” Prof. Dey reflected, emphasizing how authentic these young voices were.
The Road Ahead
Dr. Dey made a compelling case for embedding such initiatives in our education systems. She rightly said:
“Unless faculty are trained to nurture youth voice and values, we cannot hope to contribute to a Vikshit Bharat.”
The vision of Vidya Lead Academy and Nada India is clear:
To create safe, reflective, and empowering spaces where the next generation not only dreams of change—but drives it.
✨ Final Reflections
“Every day brings a chance to learn something new, and every small step can spark a larger change.”
With this spirit, #CATsForAChange are leading the way—transforming #YouthForChange into a real movement. From #FaridabadForChange to #ShimlaSpeaks and #JamshedpurRising, they are building healthier campuses and more just communities.
We thank Prof. Kakoli Dey, our mentors, and every young changemaker who showed us that empowerment is not taught—it’s lived.

Dr Vatsayan,
ReplyDeleteSir, it was an engaging interaction with young comrades who not only carries expressive effective communication skills but the focused response knowing what to speak has stolen my heart. I wish they grow up to being world leaders. The world needs good governance and empathy. I wish them the best and I am always available whenever the organisation needs me. Best Regards.
