Truth Circles, Sunscreen & Subhiksha: A New Wave of Youth Voices from Faridabad to Hyderabad

Truth Circles, Sunscreen & Subhiksha: A New Wave of Youth Voices from Faridabad to Hyderabad

“Don’t buy the lie, choose what’s true.” — Alisha, CAT Volunteer, Class 9 Faridabad

In the heart of Faridabad, a quiet but powerful movement is taking root—one that is linking school corridors to neighborhood corners, and connecting voices from

Haryana to Hyderabad. At the center of it are 40 spirited young changemakers known as Community Action Teams (CATs), trained and mentored through Nada Young India Network for Good Health (NYIN).

One of these changemakers is Alisha, a Class 9 student, who joined the network through an innovative online course on Appreciative Inquiry developed by Life Coach CEO Vidya Lead Academy  Suneel Vatsyayan   and facilitated by Hiral, a peer leader who herself started her NYIN journey in the 9th grade. Now, Hiral is paying it forward by guiding the next generation of school health champions.

As part of her course reflection, Alisha shared her personal project titled "My Choices? A Journey into Youth & Meaningful Engagement". What started as a simple observation about sunscreen turned into a profound insight into how advertisements manipulate young minds—and how awareness can empower resistance and choice.

🌞 Sunscreen and Self-Care: A Young Girl’s Awakening

For Alisha, sunscreen wasn’t just a cosmetic—it became a symbol. "I used to think sunscreen was for adults on vacations. Then I saw ads showing young people using it daily to feel confident. That message—‘glow with protection’—made me reflect on my own habits. I wasn’t just copying a trend. I was learning to care for myself," she said.

That shift—from being influenced to making intentional choices—was the start of something deeper.

🎯 From Awareness to Advocacy: “Don’t Buy the Lie, Choose What’s True”

Alisha’s dream is simple but powerful: a world where young people make choices based on awareness, not advertising pressure. In her vision, schools would have wellness clubs, students would be taught to decode marketing tricks, and campaigns like “Truth Circles” would give youth a safe space to talk about real issues.

As her monthly commitment, she designed a digital poster on mindful choices, planning to share it anonymously in her school group. One small step. One powerful message.

πŸ’¬ A Message from Hyderabad: When Subhiksha Responded

What made Alisha’s journey even more special was when Subhiksha, a senior NYIN peer leader based in Hyderabad, read her reflections—and wrote back.

“Reading your reflections truly moved me,” Subhiksha wrote. “The way you’ve connected personal change with social responsibility demonstrates the kind of leadership youth advocacy needs today.”

Subhiksha's message was not just encouragement—it was a baton pass. She reminded Alisha and the other CATs that speaking up, taking action, and standing for what’s right are acts of courage. “Keep nurturing that awareness,” she wrote. “Your voice matters. It will empower others, just like your words have empowered me today.”

πŸ’‘ Youth-Led Design: Creating Healthy School Campuses

Together, these 40 CATs under the Nada Young India Network are now actively shaping their schools and neighborhoods into Healthy Campuses—spaces that are physically, emotionally, and socially safe for young people. Through dialogue, digital posters, local events, and community circles, they are pushing back against the industries and messages that often reduce youth to mere consumers.

Instead, they're becoming creators, critics, and most importantly, connectors—linking their personal growth to the health and well-being of their peers.

πŸš€ The Journey Ahead

From Alisha in Faridabad to Subhiksha in Hyderabad, the Young India Network for Good Health is not just a campaign. It’s a movement—a growing wave of mindful, media-literate, socially conscious youth who are reclaiming their choices and redesigning their communities.

And as more young people like Alisha step forward, they’re not just sharing stories.

They’re rewriting them.

Reclaiming Vidya: A Reflection on Anganwadi Centres and the Soul of Learning

Reclaiming Vidya: A Reflection on Anganwadi Centres and the Soul of Learning By Navpreet Kaur, Intern, Nada India Foundation | June 2025 Cohort, Healthy Campus: Prioritizing Good Health & Well-being Today, I had the opportunity to engage in a deeply thought-provoking conversation with Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan , founder and mentor of Vidya Lead Academy and Chairperson of Nada India Foundation. As part of my internship with Nada Foundation and the Healthy Campus course under Appreciative Enquiry, I’ve been on a journey of rediscovering the roots and purpose of education. Our dialogue focused on a topic that is close to my heart—Anganwadi centers. Growing up, I attended an Anganwadi center before moving to Delhi. Sadly, my memories are not fond ones. The environment was disheartening. Children showed up primarily to receive meals. Teachers, often untrained, were more interested in household tasks like knitting or shelling peas than in teaching or nurturing young minds. Learning...

Guiding Lights: How Mentorship Illuminates the Path for Today’s Youth

Designed by: Chetan Suwalka Community Action Team (CAT) Member Nada Young India Network for Good Health Guiding Lights: How Mentorship Illuminates the Path for Today’s Youth πŸ•Š️ Bridging the Gap Between Classroom, Community, and Civil Society From our earliest days, guidance from parents, teachers, and elders has played a central role in shaping our values, aspirations, and direction in life. These early mentors serve as the foundation upon which we build our goals. Yet, in the face of today’s rapidly evolving world, traditional guidance—while still essential—often falls short. The development of today’s youth is influenced by a multitude of factors: complex family structures, societal expectations, economic stressors, cultural shifts, and psychological challenges. Navigating such a landscape demands more than academic knowledge. Young people must be equipped with emotional resilience, ethical awareness, decision-making ability, and critical thinking skills to thrive and contribut...
